Michaelin Watt Receives the Betty Gray Washington Sportsmanship Award
USTA NorCal congratulates Michaelin Watts, who was presented with the “Betty Gray Washington Sportsmanship Award” at the USTA National Category 1 Senior Women’s Clay Court Championships in Houston.
This award is given to a player “based on a player’s on-court conduct, friendliness, and other contribution to women’s tennis. Each year in Houston, the National Senior Women’s Tennis Association Clay Court Championship players vote to choose a player who merits this honor,” as stated on the trophy. This award is a great honor as Michaelin’s name will go on the permanent award trophy, which is held at the Houston Racquet Club.
Only “two other NorCal women received this award in the past – Dodo Cheney in 1992 and Jean Harris in 2002,” David Watts, Michaelin’s husband, explained.
Congratulations again to Michaelin on receiving this fantastic award!
